A lipid profile reports total cholesterol, LDL, HDL, and triglycerides from blood serum. It is used to estimate cardiovascular risk, screen adults over 40, and monitor diet or statin therapy. Pakistani labs commonly run it on automated analysers with a printed report your GP or cardiologist can file.

Most labs ask for 9–12 hours of fasting: only plain water overnight, then a morning draw. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand and skip heavy fried meals the day prior. If you already take morning medicines, confirm with your doctor whether to delay them until after the sample.
